David Hussey – Headteacher

Simon Hatcher was the architect who designed our new Post 16 centre which opened in September 2016. We are very pleased with the building which exceeded our expectations in providing a positive learning environment for a cohort of pupils with a range of needs.

From the outset Simon was keen to fully understand our vision for the Post 16 centre and the differing needs of the students; profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties (SLD) and students within the autistic spectrum with SLD. As we set out our expectations for the building Simon would come back with potential design solutions.  This dynamic conversation ensured our ideas and approach were fundamental to the outstanding design that was commissioned. Simon introduced us to many innovative possibilities that became part of the final design; an example of this was the removable wall that allows us to transform 2 excellent spaces into a large space. At every point Simon has sought to involve the whole school community and neighbours of the school which generated excitement in the project and ownership of the new building.

I have no hesitation in recommending Hatcher Prichard and would be happy to discuss their contribution to the school in more detail if that would be helpful.
